When the weekend comes most wives have to give their husbands a "honey-do list" for things that need to get done. All the time I've been married I don't think I've ever done this come to think of it. In fact he makes his own lists for himself and completes them. This weekend Matt has got the stuff ready to pamper our lawn, fixed the missing shingle on the roof, he even weeded the front which I'm not sure when he did that but it got done and he fixed our leaky toilet on the main level. I didn't know if he had done it yet so I ran out to the garage to double check and he was busy cleaning off his already immaculate work bench. I asked him if he had fixed the toilet yet which his reply was yes.

Matty's Birthday
Today is my husbands birthday. My Matty is turning 33. This last week has confirmed to me how much I need him and how much I care about him. It scares me to even have the thought of going through this life without him. He is my best friend. He is an amazing father and he works hard to take care of us. I love you and don't tell you near enough. I need you back and I need you well. I'm sorry your birthday won't be all the fun that was planned but we'll make the most of it.
Happy Birthday Matty!

Wish I would've grabbed the camera
Matt told me to grab the camera yesterday when we were going out the door but pregnancy brain took over and I forgot it. Fishing season has come upon our family yet again so we took the girls to a little community pond nestled in Murray and Taylorsville. Very cool park by the way. I think it had four different play toys, volleyball pit, barbecue places, soccer fields and nice baseball field. It even had a fish cleaning station off of the pond that was in the park. Maryn and Matt took off to try to get fish for supper and I followed Macey like a puppy playing on all the toys. I got tired of walking so forced her to go over where Daddy and Maryn was so I could sit and relax. She immediately went for the water. We had her water socks on not out of choice but because we left her little shoes in Boise. It was a good thing we had them on. She would bend over in the water and pick up rocks and throw them where Maryn had her line cast. Maryn kept saying Macey get out of here you're gonna scare the fish away. It was pretty comical. Macey kept creeping deeper and deeper in the water. She lost her balance but I was able to catch her. Yeah...so much for relaxing. So, I was next to her on the bank watching her and she leaned over to pick up a rock and for some reason her head just kept going and she fell all the way in the pond. I picked her up by her onesie and she had this look of shock on her face like Mom why didn't you stop me. I couldn't stop laughing. This kid knows no boundaries. That apart from trying to eat the worms and the power bait Macey is a handful. Matt was able to catch one 12 inch rainbow trout. Maryn was bummed and said that she hated that pond and never wanted to fish there again. I'm looking forward to this summer.

Uh, thanks Matt
Thank you honey for you example to our kids. Because of your pirate talking phase you've been in, Maryn called her little sister a scurvy bilge rat and yes with a pirate type voice. I'm really scared to see what other phrases she remembers.

Matty's Birthday Debut

Another year has come and gone and Matt is well on his way into his 30's...oops was I not supposed to disclose that? He is aging quite well and for Murdock's the older you get the more handsome they become. Maryn and I surprised Daddy by making him a birthday cake with a fish theme because we got him fishing gifts. I had it in my head what it was going to look like and I even surprised myself how cute it turned out. Surrrre...it was probably a cake appropriate for an 8 year old but sometimes I do feel like I have a third kid in the house.
We woke up early in the morning and made homemade Rocky Road Ice Cream. Then started on the cake. The cake toppers were made using candy melts and lollie pop sticks. I like to paint ornaments so why not paint with candy and chocolate! We wrapped Matt's presents which was a fishing vest and fillet knife. Then tried to clean up the house before he came home.
We are so thankful for our Daddy who works so hard. We hope you had a good birthday!
Love,
All your girls(poor guy)

Bye Bye Waffle Maker
Sundays are kind of hectic in the Murdock household because of meetings galore. My dear sweet husband this morning fixed breakfast for all of us...waffles, cheesy eggs(his specialty) and bacon...just delightful. I think he's always worried about me eating because sometimes I forget when I get busy even though I LOVE food. Found it kind of funny that we had this feast in front of us and Maryn was complaining that all she wanted this morning was cereal. The breakfast was wonderful and I hurried and went to my meeting and left my poor husband for a substantial amount of time to get himself ready and two little girls. When I came home he came up to me and started the conversation with I cleaned the waffle maker and had it propped up on the table to drip dry and when I went upstairs I heard this huge crash. He told me he kind of broke my waffle iron. I looked at it and said so it is broken shaking my head in agreement. Technically I could still use it but there are some exposed wires. I didn't say much but inside I was shouting for joy...WOOHOO I GET A NEW WAFFLE IRON!!! I've been wanting one for a while but couldn't justify buying a new one when the old one worked just fine. It has served us well for the past 7 years but now it's time to move on. Thank you honey for allowing me to get a new kitchen appliance and you didn't even know that I wanted it!
