Willow Flats

This past weekend we went camping with family up at Willow Flats in Idaho. We had a really nice camp site and fit 3 families on it. After we got set up we didn't waste any time getting the badminton net set up. I even jumped in for a game.

Maryn got better at her game of Go Fish.

Maryn was dirty from head to toe the moment we got there. No matter how much cleaning I did it was useless. Still cute amongst the dirt though.

Uncle Sam brought his four wheelers up and we got to enjoy a 25 mile ride in beautiful country. Maryn was on the front and I was hanging on the back while Matt rode like a mad man. We didn't know but Maryn had her purple shoe on the exhaust at some point and it almost melted all the way through. Hopefully Uncle Sam doesn't mind the color purple on his four wheeler.

We rode to a memorial with Mike, Justin, Devan, Tiffanie and Sam that was originally was a crash site in 1958 where 37 servicemen lost their lives coming home from the Korean war. They had a memorial with all their names and a little mound of debris where people were still finding pieces and materials from the plane. The eeriest find was the sole of an army boot.

Dinner was wonderful with chicken and potatoes with fresh picked green beans from Julie's garden. It was topped off with Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler...just fabulous. Matt took Maryn up to a natural spring where he said wild flowers were everywhere. Maryn just couldn't get enough of it. She called it her Nature Hike. She came back with a handful of pretty wildflowers in a bouquet for me.

We had to cut out early and wasn't able to stay an extra day but it was a fun time.

Baby Bump

For those of you who know me I don't take too many pictures of my belly when I'm pregnant. I'm kinda regretting that now that I didn't get them with Maryn. I have a few but not enough you can really tell. So, I had Matt take some pictures on Sunday. I just wish he would've included my head in one of the pictures but oh well. Maryn had her belly stuffed with a balloon because she didn't want to be left out. I think she's a little further along than I am...hee hee. I just realized we don't have that much time left.

A Double What???

Maryn has had some funky things going on with her lately. She came home from Grandma's a month ago with goopy eyes but that went away then her unexplained fevers came back. Then those went away. Then all of a sudden she had all these little dots that come over her body. At first they looked like she painted them on then they raised up but they weren't characteristic of anything we've ever seen. Matt being a little more concerned wanted to take her in Saturday. I thought it might be from her swimming last Saturday because they showed up the next day. So we took her in and the doctor said it didn't look like anything she'd ever seen before but they were starting to fade so she wasn't worried BUT little fuss was a little congested so she checked Maryn's ears and low and behold she had a double ear infection. WHO KNEW!!! I felt kinda bad but then again she was pretty happy not even complaining. What pain tolerance this kid has. She is gonna need it when her little sister starts tugging on her.

Girl's Camp Payson Lakes

I think this is the last of my catch up posts. I attended Girl's Camp in mid July up at Payson Lakes. The perks of being in the Young Women's Program is I get to find out where all the cool places are. The view was beautiful and it was very peaceful and lush with greenery!

On the way up I had all the Miamaids in my car and we were jamming to Disney songs. We meandered our way up a curvy road and Caitlin said whoever saw an animal first would get a dollar. Supposedly Lindsay saw a deer but it was only visible to her. The rest of us missed it.


We had a lot of activities planned. For their crafts they tied fleece blankets, painted a be steadfast and immovable craft and we had superhero pajama pants for all the girls. The theme of the Girl's camp was Superheroes of Truth and Righteousness. Each morning and night we had devotionals regarding women in the scriptures, our own personal heroes in our life and subject surrounding choosing friends and going the distance regarding making decisions in life. Everyone did an awesome job.

One of the highlights of the trip is we took a little hike back to this waterfall. We were the only ones there for a while so the girls had fun playing in the little cove back there.

There was a lake close by and they had fun splashing around in it. At first I think they were a little skeptical because tadpoles kept swarming around their legs. It was hot enough outside I think it didn't bother them after a while.

They had a team contest for some games. First was the javelin throw.

Then we had a speed race competition where each of the girls had to do a series of things to cross the finish line like do a dance on the tarp, walk back with a plate between their knees and silly things like that. Lindsay G. did the splits on the tarp. I wish I would've gotten a picture of that...it was hilarious.

All the girls were pretty tired by the time it came for the bishopric and some of the leaders to come up.

We had a chicken and rice dutch oven dinner with chocolate cherry cobbler for dessert. It turned out wonderful! The girls put together some skits for the fireside. I wasn't able to capture the Miamaids skit but I do have the Laurels. They were ads trying to sell a certain YW's value.

The fireside and testimony meeting were wonderful. That night we went to bed with the anticipation of going home in the morning. I've never seen the girls work so fast to leave. We were out by 10:00 but enjoyed our time there.

My baby is growing up

On Sunday, we had a really nice day at church. Maryn has been practicing giving her testimony in Family Home Evening for the past month and wanted so badly to go up and bear it in Sacrament Meeting. Matt and I were a little nervous not knowing what she would say because it changes every time she says it. She pleaded with us for about 5 minutes for us to take her up. Her teacher got up and gave her testimony and Maryn turned to me and said I have to do it now. I decided to take her up and she literally dragged me up to the stand. I sat down up on the stand and she went up to the pulpit by herself, adjusted the microphone and gave the perfect little testimony. It went something like, I love to share my testimony. I know the church is true. I love my brother and sister. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. I was between giggling and crying because she was so sure of herself and so confident. I looked down at Matt and it didn't help that he was choked up too. Now, I'm not really sure where the extra brother came from but people were asking me if I'm having twins. According to Maryn, yes, but no I'm not. Matt and I are so proud of our little Maryn.
