What's a girl to do?

Soooooo, all the girls are in bed, garden, hanging baskets and tomatoes are watered and husband is thousands of miles away for the next 4 days on a business trip. What's a girl to do? Guilt free blogging I guess. I dropped off Matt today at the airport right after church. If you want to get through security super fast fly out of Salt Lake City on a Sunday. There was NOBODY there when I went to drop off Matt. Plenty of people flying in but not much going out. Matt called after he landed in Texas and told me it took him about 3 minutes to get to his gate by the time I dropped him off. He made it safely there so it's me and the girls for most of the week.

When it was bedtime Maryn gave me the million excuse routine. I'm sure every mother has experienced this but Maryn thinks she's an adult so she doesn't understand why Mommy stays up until 10:00 when she has to go to bed at 8:00. She ends up making so many excuses before bedtime that sound legit but you know she is just doing it to extend her time being up. She is getting quite good at it too and mommy has the tendency to fold to most of the demands. I try to stay strong. I'm okay if I know from the get go she is playing me. This girl has my number and she is only 4! For some reason I'm like a drone and when told what to do I just supply the need without even thinking about it...WHY DO I DO THIS??? Good thing Daddy is here to balance things out...oh wait he's gone for the next few days. Hopefully we'll survive this week.

I have a few blankets that I badly need to finish! I feel like such a loser. I used to make blankets for people right and left and it's been so hard to find a few minutes to sit down and finish these projects that I have. Maybe I'll do that now...gotta go people the house is quiet (AWWW BLISS) and I'm a woman on a mission. Sorry for the randomness.

Random Maryn Moment: Maryn used to know all the words to Jingle Bells. For some reason she's losing the lyrics as she gets older and she's been singing it this way...Oh what fun it is to ride office orpen sleigh.

2 days, 2 nosebleeds

I don't know if I can handle this growing up thing that my kids are doing. The older they get the more owie's they get and it's hard on poor old Mom and Dad(being Matt and I). I got home from the conference center last night late and was telling Matt about all the wonderful things that happened to find out that Maryn had a major crash on her bike. She is kind insane when she gets on her bike and wasn't so lucky this time. I guess she was riding super fast down at the church and jerked her handle bars a little bit and put her feet down to steady herself. She was able to steady herself but was still going to fast and jerked her handle bars again and flew over her bike. Matt said he heard her head hit and it was very unsettling. He was prepared to find her face shaved off as to what he explained because she skidded against the pavement with her face. When he got to her blood was coming out of her mouth and nose and forehead. THANK GOODNESS she was wearing her helmet!!!! It took the brunt of her fall.

She ended up scraping up her hip, elbow, chin, forehead, nose, has a bruise on her knee and has a nasty cut in her mouth above her teeth which are now wiggly and hopefully won't fall out. I just noticed she chipped one of her front teeth. So much for our perfect dentist visit this past week with Maryn. I checked in on her before I went to bed but didn't want to wake her so didn't see most of it until morning. Poor girl!!! I just hope her teeth don't fall out or else it will be a long time before her permanent teeth come in. Sorry no pictures folks...can't bring myself to photograph the owies. Matt said she cleaned up pretty well considering. He really thought she broke something.

And now Macey. She was playing with a toy this morning and somehow jerked her head down. She smacked her nose on the toy and got a bloody nose. Have you ever tried to put pressure on a 7 month old to stop the bleeding? Doesn't work too well. I was finally able to stick a little bit of a tissue in her nose to help stop the bleeding but it still comes out every so often. Hopefully my kids can survive the rest of the weekend. Matt wanted to take Maryn fishing tomorrow but I don't think I can handle another accident of any kind.

Headed out to the Conference Center

Guess where I get to be tonight...with the youth to watch their dress rehearsal for the Temple Youth Celebration. For those of you who don't know I've been helping out the youth choir from our stake for the last 2 1/2 months learning their songs by playing parts on the piano. They are going to be added on to other youth choirs in Salt Lake to make up over a 2000 youth choir. The music is amazing and unfortunately I won't be able to be at the celebration (by my own choice and limited tickets) BUT I get to see it in it's entirety performed tonight. I'm so happy for our girls that get to participate. I'll give ya the details later...

Garden Conversations

Yesterday, Maryn and I worked hard weeding our flower beds. I don't mind weeding...it feels really good to work and see the beautiful landscape when your done. While I was working hard Maryn was hardly working which was fine. She was playing pretend school and having conversations with imaginary friends that are actually her real life friends. Kinda felt bad about that so I invited over one of the friends later in the day after I heard her name repeated 50 times. Anyway, Maryn has had this fascination lately about what city we are in because I'll announce to her in the car when we're in a different city. When she was talking to herself outside she was telling her imaginary friends we'll go visit Salt Lake City, Kearns and even West Jordan where Jesus was baptized. Well, there you have it! And to think it's been this close the whole time. My little Maryn who knows what she'll say next?!?! She makes me smile.

This is Maryn a few weeks back learning to whistle.

Check this out!

My sister has been working on these children stories which are AWESOME! And I'm not just saying this because I'm related. They really are wonderful children stories. Sometimes you read stories and you wonder what in the world were they thinking when they wrote it. These stories each have a moral to them and songs that coincide with each of the stories. She is trying like mad to finish up her illustrations and she has a few samples of them on her blog. Check them out they are really cute!

No more training wheels

About 2 weeks ago Matt took Maryn's training wheels off. When she tried to ride it she found out that she couldn't do it so immediately told Daddy to put them back on. This didn't fly too well with Daddy. Daddy took it upon himself to try to teach Maryn. He went behind her and was holding the bike. After about a week and half of much attempts Matt went to do his own thing because Maryn wasn't responding. 15 minutes later she was able to go in a straight line for a few feet. 1 day later she could turn but only stop herself with her feet. 2 days later she could use her brakes. Just this past weekend we were watching her ride her bike and now she's riding without her feet on the pedals and riding in circles like crazy. We can't teach this kid anything...thank goodness she's capable of teaching herself. We're proud of you Maryn eventhough Mommy or Daddy can't take the credit for helping teach you to ride. Matt you get to tackle driving when she's 16!

Nothing is greater than the love of a sister

WARNING: If you are offended by nude baby photos do not scroll down. I on the other hand can't resist a bare skinned baby. I just want to squeeze them, blow on their tummies and pinch their chubbiness.

Maryn and Macey are starting a beautiful friendship. You will rarely find these two apart. Today I found Maryn picking up Macey putting her in Maryn's special princess chair prepping her for a pretend breakfast party. Who needs dolls when ya got the real life thing. Here are a few pics of these two silly goofy's together.

Blue Steel

Ben Stiller, eat your heart out!

Mother's Day Weekend

For Mother's Day weekend we took a trip up to Clifton, ID. I have to admit I was not in the most chipper mood so I was not perky about going but it turned out to be a fun weekend. Mom and Dad Murdock serve in the temple on Saturday's so our little family went off roading up to Clifton Basin. You can only get so far up the mountain this time of year or else you'll get your rig stuck. Which would not be cool since it's my only mode of transportation. We were warned there were some trees that were down on the way up but nothing Matt couldn't handle.

I looked back and the girls little heads were bobbing back and forth. Macey ended up falling asleep and didn't hear much from her the whole trip. We got up to Little Basin and there was a huge mud patch. I was surprised when Matt went through it instead of around. He stopped right in the middle of it and I could feel my side at an angle getting sucked in the mud. Should've taken a picture of Lady(our Yukon) because it was caked in mud. Further up the trail we made it to Clifton Basin and couldn't go any further because there was huge snow drifts. We stopped and looked at rocks in the creek and collected some wildflowers.

On the way down we stopped and hiked down to look over the cliffs. And Matt and Maryn took an extra hike to look at a truck that had ran off the road 50 years ago. Legend has it a guy had a heart attack coming down the mountain and ran off the cliff.

It's been a while since I'd been up the mountain because I'm usually home taking care of the babies. It was very peaceful going up where you feel free and have fresh air. Hopefully I'll be able to get a four wheeler ride this summer.

Moods

I'm so excited I can hardly wait for this game to come. A few years back my friend April brought this awesome game to Young Women's to play and we were laughing so hard I immediately wanted to buy it. I was so sad when I found out it was out of print. So where do you find something out of print? E-BAY!! I'm not an e-bay person so I wasn't really sure how things worked. I bid on the Moods games a few times but always got outbit. Once in a while I'll randomly look on E-bay to see if there are any Moods games being sold and today one of them was closing in an hour. Usually it's during the middle of the night when it closes and there is NO WAY I'm losing sleep. So I put in a bid and I was the highest bidder up until the last 2 minutes. So I put in another bid and thought I had hit the wrong button right in the last 10 seconds and tried to go back and didn't know what was going on and knew for sure I lost the bid. I opened Matt's e-mail and it said that I WON!! WOOHOO!!! I'm so excited for game night now!! Matt keeps bugging me to get our games night organized so I just might have to do that soon. I know they say buying things doesn't make you happy but eh, I'm happy! Okay the fun is over, back to cleaning the house!

Slowly Coming Back

Sorry that I have been missing in action. Matt finally got my computer reformatted. Everything loaded up successfully EXCEPT of course my scrapbook program. He has to get it fixed...that's one of those things you can't live without. He promised me he would and I believe him. Whenever Matt says he can fix something he always can.

Just a few random things that happened this last week. Don't have my pics on this computer transferred yet so those will have to wait. BUT Maryn learned how to whistle. She used to try to whistle by sing/blowing to make it sound like a whistle. Matt was working with her and later that day we were waiting ridiculously long in the bank line and she was practicing and all of a sudden a little TWEET came out of no where. She got this huge grin on her face and has been whistling non stop since.

Macers is a rolling fool! I learned my lesson the hard way too. We'll just say mommy won't leave her for 2 seconds anymore on sister's bed! Sorry baby! She also learned this past week how to scowl and she does it on purpose. She'll be really happy then give you a scowl. She'll wait for your reaction and when you smile she'll break out of her Macey Scowley face and smile back. Such a stinkin' cutie. We're still working on the sleeping through the night uninterrupted. Hopefully that will happen sooner than later. Macey is also wanting to go mobile. Not sure if I'm up for that yet. She gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. I know from past experience it's only a matter of time. Guess it's time to invest in more baby gates.

We've implemented a new chore chart for Maryn and it has been working wonders! She earned her first quarters this past week and she is cruising right along. I finally got it into her head I would like her to do her chores without asking. This morning after we ate breakfast she said I gotta go do my chores so I'll be right back. WHOAH!!! Where has my daughter gone? Who would think happy face stickers would have such power!!! It's been about 2 weeks and she's still enjoying it!

I'm hoping within the next week I'll be back up and running. I feel so handicapped without certain functions of my computer. And I'm sad because I'm going to have to start my favorite folders all over again. I just have to get my scrapbook program working or else years of work will go down the tube. Although I have to say since I haven't been on my facebook account and limited Internet access a TON of time has been freed up. Amazing!!!
