I'm wasting what?

We got to go see family this weekend and I created something for Dad.  We'll just say I wrote something...okay,there I said it...I wrote a song.  The last few months there has been a lot of reflection since the passing of Mom and I was feeling down so my husband told me write a song.  I took it to heart and I did it.  I've been trying to come up with something for years and this took me little less than a few days to get the words written out.  I guess if you have a purpose to write something it's a lot easier.  I recorded it so I don't forget it because actually writing the notes part of it is not my strong suit.  I played it for a few family members this weekend and my sis-in-law stopped me in the middle of the song and bluntly said, "Debbie, you are wasting your talent".  She asked me why I don't pursue this if I love it so much.  I was a little taken back.  That's the last thing I would ever want to do is waste something that has been given to me but she is right.  It's hard to stomach when someone tells you something that's hard to hear.  I'm not sure how to record it to put on youtube to view but I'd like to share it with you.  I tried on my camera and video camera but you can't hear it very well and the piano is distorted.  If someone knows how I can record it so it's audible let me know.

Clifton, Kittens and Cold

A small tender mercy happened this weekend.  We are in Clifton!!!  Unfortunately it's been raining the whole time so we haven't been able to play outside but hopefully that will change tomorrow when it warms up.  We've been enjoying being with Dad and being surrounded by the beautiful mountains.  The girls are excited to be here also.  The other night we were chit chatting with the adults and Macey came in and said that she needed some milk for the kitties because they were hungry and cold.  We said, okay sweetie and kept on talking.  Then I stopped and said, "did she say kitties?".  Everyone thought she was talking about the welfare cat that begs for food outside of the sliding glass door.  I went outside to investigate and low and behold the girls found a litter of wild kittens.  Dad is trying to get us to take a couple home.  I would love too but...I can't bring myself  to do it with the kids allergies.  Maryn has named each of them and she is pretty attached to Cuddles.  They had been playing with them all day and thought there was only 5 and Maryn said she had found a sixth kitty.  Tomorrow we are planning on taking the kids four wheeling if weather permits and we'll go into town to get some flowers for Mom to place on her grave site.  So glad that we could make it up here.  This last year has been very trying for our family.  I haven't talked about it much because when you're going through it...well, it's just hard to talk about.  And I have been trying to shield my kids from the affects as much as possible.  One of the things that was affected has been traveling.  We haven't been able to do it and you can imagine how hard that is when ALL of your family is a few hundred miles away.  I am grateful that we were able to make it this weekend hence the tender mercy comment.  It may seem small to some but it is monumental for us.  Just remember every day is a gift...make the most out what is given to you.

Happy Birthday Mr. Mason

Today my little man is turning 2!!!  Time has gone by so quickly and I don't have a baby anymore.  He will always be Mommy's baby though.  Buddy loves his cars.  He is a car man and will drive them all over the house, walls and even my piano(he gets in trouble for that one).  He has the silliest sense of humor.  It was raining a few days ago and I told the kids we were going to make a run for it to get to the car however Buddy was in my arms.  When Macey and I started running I was holding her hand with my right hand and with my left arm was holding Buddy and he started to swing his whole body back and forth and that was his "running".  His weight kept knocking me back then propelling me forward I was laughing so hard by the time we got to the car.  He is my craziest sleeper.  When I put him down for a nap I always go back 5 minutes later and 9 times out of 10 he's not in his bed but falling asleep under the train table, by the bed, halfway falling out of bed upside down or under the bed.  One day I opened the door and 2 little legs were sticking out.  It was reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz.

He sings the tune of the ABC's by saying apple for the whole thing.  Bacon is Bay-da...almost sounds like an Ewok.  His favorite blankie is the crocheted blue one pictured above that his Aunt Teresa made him and he calls it Blay.  One unique thing about Buddy is he only has 3 teeth on the bottom and no sign of anymore coming in.  He loves his Daddy so much and is very much a Daddy's boy.  He only needs Mommy for loves, songs and to kiss away owies.
I watch my baby boy in awe as he runs around playing and can't believe he's mine.  I love you Buddy Guy...Happy Birthday!

Whirlwind of a Week

*Warning* Super long post

I have had a billion things going on this week and it's not all the way over.  And I probably don't have time to sit and blog but I needed a little breather so I thought I would write some stuff down.  Majority of my stuff is self created.  I always put demands on myself that I have to get done.  I just feel the older I get the less time I have.  I even sacrificed some sleep this week to make my daughter happy.  Here's the run down.

I cleaned out of the closet the "to mend" clothes and it's staggering.  It's a good thing I'm crafty or else we would be in the poor house from how quickly my kids go through jeans.  There is a total of 12 jeans I need to convert into capris or shorts.  I found a good use of my leftover material.  I made decorative cuffs on the bottom.  I stayed up late one night to finish a pair for Maryn because she was determined to wear shorts to her field trip this week.  You know you have succeeded if your daughter actually wants to wear the stuff you sew to school and is not embarrassed by it.  I think they are rather darling (and modest) and it's nice to have a use of my leftover material.

My friend is moving and I'm mad at her for moving(not really) so to make her super guilty :) I'm throwing her family a goodbye party.  I made 7 gallons of homemade ice cream this week.  And might I say 6 of the 7 I'm in love with.  Imagine any type of ice cream and it's probably there.  The one I'm curious to see how it set up is the Somoa Ice Cream.  Yes, Somoa as in girl scout cookie except I used the knock off called Coconut Dreams by Keeblers.  My brother gave me some when he was visiting a while back and they ROCK!

I weeded and transferred dirt to prepare the soil to put down more mulch.  I still have that 1 spot in the back that I never got to from last year.  My job got a lot easier to weed though because some of the landscaping was taken by the new AC unit we got!

Took Macey out on a date to Ab's because she finished one of her goals.  Learning all the sounds and letters of the Alphabet and she's only 3.

Matt and I put in a sandbox and the kids are loving it!  My carpets and washing machine are not loving it but it's worth it for the hours of fun they have.

The girls and I had a little spa night and I soaked their feet and painted their toes.  It was worth it just for what happened after I was done massaging Macey's feet she said, "Thanks Mom, that was great!"

Buddy's birthday is on Sunday and today I'm making his cake and decorating it tomorrow morning.  It will be a huge Cookie Monster holding a super big cookie!

I've been working on a special project.  I can't say too much about it right now but I'll give you a little sneak peak.  I'm 99.9% sure that this person doesn't view this blog but you never know.

I also have a lot of other things to be attending the list is long so I'll save you from it.

Hubby told me he was forcing me to go shopping for new clothes tonight.  It's true my clothes are awful.  I used to dress really nice and then I became a mom and kind of let myself go.  I want to dress nice but my kids always could use the clothes more than I.  In my defense I refuse to be a sweat pants Mom(no offense to anyone who does this).

Gophers and Sebastian

I've had and overheard some pretty funny conversations this past week with the girls.  I only caught half of the conversation with Maryn so I had to ask Matt what he was talking about with her.  Maryn grabbed the phone when Matt called and was talking to him and out of the blue she had mentioned that there were a lot more gopher holes in the front yard.  She went quiet and said, "well you know Dad, Heavenly Father put them on the earth they got to be good for something."  I guess he told her that he was going to kill the gophers because they were eating my flowers.

Then today, Macey came up to me and asked if I could untie a ribbon that was wrapped around Sebastian the crab.  I asked her who had done it.  She said, "Maryn tied him up.  Once you untie him he is going to go and eat Arial and Beauty.  Tragic isn't it?"  The whole time she had this cheeky little smile on.  I got a good laugh out of that.
