What's in a name?

So, what's in a name anyway?  EVERYTHING

Matt and I were talking a while back and we wanted our last name to stand for something.  To give our children a sense of worth and pride for who they are.  So many times we get labeled on who we are and we believe it.  For some reason we only remember the negative things that bring us down.  We carry around baggage associated with our namesake and we perpetuate the mistakes.  We hold on to who we were or what we think we are.  We don't believe we can change because eventually we will repeat the past from what we've always believed of ourselves.

We decided to make a family plaque.  We had a Family Home Evening to talk about what our family stood for and the kids helped us brainstorm and we talked about why these words were so important.  We're hanging it in a place so everyday when our children leave the house and when they come home they will see their last name and the words that represent us and what we want to stand for.
