Lovely chimes of the musical potty chair

We finally had a breakthrough last Thursday. Breakthrough meaning, Mommy didn't want to change diapers anymore. For 2 years now we have been trying to have Maryn potty trained. She would occasionally go but it would be us forcing her to do it and end up being a miserable experience. Maryn is not one to take kindly to people telling her what to do. So, with her it's a wait and see game. Last Thursday we ran out of wet wipes and I was so frustrated. I told Maryn that she has no choice in the matter she is going in her potty chair. For the next 30 minutes she begged and pleaded for me to put a diaper on her. She even went to the extent to smooth out the diaper on the ground and try like mad to position herself on top of it and secure the straps herself. That didn't work too well.

I asked her how long are you going to wear diapers and her response was Forever I Love Them! I kinda told her that she needed to go potty in order to play with her friends and Matt told her the day before that the baby couldn't come until she was potty trained. So, I left her alone for a bit and she came up to me and said that she would try the potty. I guess she just needed the proper motivation. But ultimately, it has to be her idea. So she sat and squirmed and yelled at me then, the lovely chimes of the musical potty chair rang out. Her little face glowed with excitement. Now this is not the first time she has used the chair. I'm not sure what clicked in her head but after that she used the potty again that day and again. Then went to sleep woke up dry. Then on Saturday I was laying down resting and Maryn came up the stairs chanting "underwear, underwear" then just seconds later I hear the chimes. She had sat down all by herself and went potty. She didn't ask for help and did it all on her own. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

So, needless to say it's become excessive and she thinks it's cool now so she'll sit down every half hour and go. I'm going to need to teach her about moderation in all things or going in the big potty because cleaning out the potty seat is not something I look forward to doing every half hour. I'm very proud of you Maryn for being a BIG GIRL!!! Just in time for another 3 years of diaper changing with the next one.
